Soft fruit netting from Tornado Wire
Tornado has brought its expertise, which it has gained from 40 year as a fencing manufacturer, to bear on eliminating the problems associated with traditional solutions for growing commercial strawberries and raspberries. Traditional methods can leave fruit vulnerable to pests, disease or damage and are time-consuming and labour-intensive.
Points to consider
Strawberry netting
Tornado Strawberry Net comprises a durable steel wire net which is rolled up at the sides to contain grow bags. The design of the net removes the risk of the plants falling out or being knocked out and getting damaged, which can be an issue with plain wire systems.
Growing fruit off the ground allows for more accurate watering and feeding, reducing pests and disease. Importantly in the time of potential shortages in casual labour to pick friut, it allows for a quicker harvesting.
Raspberry netting
Tornado Raspberry Net comprises two layers of net laid horizontally and attached to a steel framework for support. The steel framework is a one off cost that does not need to be repeated.
The top layer is simply raised mechanically as the plants grow, so that they are adequately supported through all stages of propagation. This method is much superior to the traditional method of propagating the plants up bamboo canes, as it eliminates the need to re-tie several times during propagation, which is highly labour intensive.
