How to enter
We are pleased to announce some major changes to our next Fencing Competition.
Tornado held the first ever UK fencing competition for professional contractors back in 1984 and it has always been based on using hand-held tools. Since then developments in fencing machinery have revolutionised the industry and now most contractors are fully mechanised.
The primary objective of the Tornado competition is to promote better standards throughout the industry and demonstrate the benefits of using a professional contractor to the thousands of farmers who attend the event. Competitors in the next competition will be able to use vehicle mounted machines for the first time, in recognition of the reality that most fencing is now erected with considerable mechanical aid. We have secured a larger site at the Three Counties Showground and competitors will each have a 7m wide lane to operate within. Despite the mechanisation of the event there will still be plenty of opportunity to showcase the more traditional skills of a professional fencer.
Unfortunately the NSA sheep event and so the Tornado Fencing competition have been cancelled this year. Along with so many other events, this is due to the ongoing restrictions and concerns surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), and after taking careful account of the latest Government and Public Health guidance.
We are very disappointed and apologise for the inconvenience.
The next NSA Sheep Event and Tornado Fencing competition will be held on 27nd July 2022.
